Character Creator - Choosing a Race

There are so many! Which should I choose?!

For Final Fantasy fans who missed out on XI this will come as a bit of a gear change. Yes, in A Realm Reborn you can choose how or what you the hero will look like. Want to look like the guy from the trailer? No problem. Tired of the lack of facial hair in Japanese games? No problem. Love cats too much? Again no problem ... *ahem*

A male Elezen and a female Miqo'te. Just two of the five races available.

What Races are there?

As of launch there are 5 playable races currently in A Realm Reborn with each race coming with two sub-races.

Confused about sub-races? Not to worry ... let's see ... an example would be good right about now ...

Aha! Take the much popular Miqo'te for example. You've clicked on him ... good. Now you will see two options:
  • Seeker of the Sun.
  • Keeper of the Moon.
These are the two sub-races for the Miqo'te! They vary in both appearance (which of course can be edited) and stats.

After choosing a race you then have to choose one of the two sub-races.

Wait ... stats?! Do I have to choose a certain race if I want to be a certain class?

The simple answer (unless you're a super hardcore min-maxer) is no. Unless you're running around fighting monsters naked then there is minimal difference in your effectiveness with any class no matter what your race is. So in short just choose the race that tickles your fancy no matter what class you want to choose.

Both genders of all the races available in A Realm Reborn.

In conclusion ...

Before we say our goodbyes let us briefly go over the basics of choosing a race.
  • There are five races to choose from. Each race is split into two unique sub-races.
  • What class you want to be does not depend on your race.
  • Choose whatever you think looks best and run with it!
And .... that's it for now folks. Hope you found this somewhat informative. Feel free to provide any feedback. I read it all!
Till next time!
